How to Shave Your Back

Back hair is a common issue for many people. Luckily, shaving your back is very easy, especially if you have some one to help you. Follow the steps below for a clean-shaven back.

EditMethod 1 of 3: Preparation

  1. 1
Find some one to help you shave. A friend or partner can help you shave your back. This makes the process a lot easier than doing it all by yourself.
  2. 2
Trim the hair on your back.
    • If you have electric clippers, this step is as simple as having your friend plug in the clippers and trim down the hair on your back.
    • If you don't have clippers handy, have your friend use a comb and scissors to trim down your hair. This will make shaving your back quicker and easier. [1]
  3. 3
Rinse off. Hop into the shower and rinse the trimmed hair off of your back. Once you've rinsed off any loose hairs, you will be ready to start shaving.

EditMethod 2 of 3: Shaving Your Back

  1. 1
Have your friend rub shaving cream onto your back. Make sure that they cover the entire area that you want shaved.
  2. 2
Slowly shave the back. Be sure that your friend is not applying too much or too little pressure while shaving your back. Have him or her rinse the razor after each stroke for more effective shaving.
    • Your friend should be shaving in the opposite direction of your hair growth for the smoothest shave.
    • Don't go over the same spot too many times, as it may cause a rash or cut.

EditMethod 3 of 3: Aftercare

  1. 1
Rinse off excess shaving cream. After the shaving cream has been rinsed off, check if your friend has missed any spots. Reapply shaving cream and shave off any spots that might have been missed.
  2. 2
    Dry off with a towel.
  3. 3
Have your friend rub lotion into skin.
  4. 4
    You're done!

EditTips

  • Go slowly. Cuts on your back are painful.
  • Don't try to shave your back on your own unless you have a shaver for that specific purpose.
  • Waxing and laser hair removal are also good options for back hair removal.

How to Shave Your Legs

Why not? You should especially shave your legs if you're a cyclist or a swimmer. Don't know where to start? Read on!

EditSteps

  1. 1
First, you need to gather all of your items (listed below).
  2. 2
Now, you need to wash both of your legs with soap and warm water. (This exfoliates the pores for your hair, making a smoother shave).
  3. 3
Now, you need to get a good shaving cream, even if that means getting the more expensive brand.
  4. 4
Lather up your entire leg, making sure that the cream is a nice, smooth layer- evenly spread.
  5. 5
Gently press the razor against your leg, with just enough pressure to remove the hair.
  6. 6
Rinse off the cream from the razor. Continue until all of the hair is off.
  7. 7
Rinse off your legs and massage a good amount of body lotion/butter into your skin.
  8. 8
    Finished.

How to Shave Your Genitals (Male)

Bringing a sharp instrument close to your genitals can be intimidating; but with preparation, time, and practice, manscaping can be an easy task. You may want to shave the hair from your scrotum the first time in your bathroom, to remove the long hairs. This is described below. But afterwards, the easiest way to shave your scrotum on an ongoing basis is to do it when you are lying on your bed on your back. A double-blade razor works really well. You should shave every few days this way. You do not need to use shaving cream.

EditSteps

  1. 1
Buy a beard or hair trimmer and trim the pubic area to less than 1/4". This will make the hair easier to shave later. Longer hair is more likely to clog a razor. Using a beard trimmer will work better than scissors and it will cut the hair shorter. If you use a clipper make sure you use a 0 or 1 blade on it, if you do it will cut almost as close as a razor blade.
    • Avoid using an electric razor on the scrotum. The skin of the scrotum is so thin and loose that it can be caught by the shaver, and this is extremely painful. If for some reason you still feel you should use a men's electric razor, avoid shaving down the center of the underside of the penis and on the center of the scrotum, as a cut there is also extremely painful. Try not to get an erection because you may cut yourself.
  2. 2
After you shave your long hair off your scrotum the first time in the bathroom, you can shave your scrotum more easily by lying on your bed on your back. But you will need to shave your scrotum frequently before the hairs get real long again. A double-blade razor works really well, and you should not need to use shaving cream. If you think you always need to use shaving cream, then you will always have to shave your scrotum in the bathroom. But it's a lot easier to lie down when shaving the scrotum, or do it while sitting down, works any way.
  3. 3
Get in position. Ensure the room you are using for shaving will be private for at least an hour (or however long you think the process will take). This is not something you want to rush through! Consider shaving late at night.
    • Consider shaving sitting in a very shallow hot bath. The hot water in the bath will prepare the area for shaving better than showering. Your body will be very stable (you are sitting down) and your genitals are very accessible. You also have a handy source of water in which to rinse the razor. If this is not possible consider shaving sitting down, ideally on the floor for ease of access and stability.
    • If you use the edge of a toilet seat to sit on, letting your pubic area sit over a garbage can while shaving, the mess will be next to nothing to clean up.
    • If you prefer standing, try shaving in your shower. Just make sure to stand out of the water to avoid watering down your shave lather, and constantly rinse your blade. By shaving at the start of the shower, you will let any cuts close themselves and thus avoid any stains in your clothes.
  4. 4
Lather the area with shaving cream intended for sensitive skin such as Coochie Cream. Avoid menthol or heavily scented creams as they will irritate the area. Using an antibacterial shaving gel will minimize irritation caused by bacteria getting into your pores and hair follicles. Also, these types of shave gels are clear, allowing you to see the terrain as you shave.
  5. 5
Using a new 3 or 4 bladed razor, shave each area using short, very light strokes. The key in shaving the genital area is to always make sure the section of skin you're shaving is taut; shaving loose skin can lead to cuts, because the skin will move with the razor and create an uneven surface. The following tips are for shaving against the direction of growth ("against the grain" - which produces the smoothest shave) but note that if you first shave in the direction the hair is growing, you will shorten most of it. Then shaving in the opposite direction will be easier, but some people find it sufficient to just shave in the direction of growth and stop there, especially since shaving against the grain is more likely to result in ingrown hairs and razor bumps.
  6. 6
Pulling the penis downward, shave from the top of the penis upward to the navel.
  7. 7
Holding the penis to the side, shave inwards in the sides of it and in the sides of the scrotum.
  8. 8
Holding the penis upward, shave downwards carefully from the penis to the lower part of the scrotum.
  9. 9
The scrotum is much easier to shave if the skin is extended. The scrotum should be shaved from the middle front part of it, to the sides, with extreme care.
  10. 10
Rinse off and wash the area using mild soap.
  11. 11
Pat dry. Be gentle. Rubbing with the towel will increase irritation.
  12. 12
Use some antiseptic cream to minimize skin irritation. If you are shaving the first or second time it will most likely irritate the skin, once the hair starts growing back. This can lead to itching and redness. This will be gone within a week roughly and once you start shaving more often it will stop.

Is shaving your pubic hair bad?

Are we supposed to shave our pubic hair? Is it perverted or strange? It's not weird, and it's not (necessarily) kinky. Lots of people do it, both men and women. Shaving "down there" has been practiced along with shaving other body parts since ancient times, in Rome, the Middle East, Japan, China, India and North Africa.

One may do it for aesthetic reasons, or to feel "fresher". Some people find it more attractive or simply more convenient. No more owchies from getting a hair stuck to a pantyliner, or tangled around someone's tongue ring. *blush* No more stray curly hairs peeking out from revealing clothing or bathing suits. Pubic hair isn't firmly rooted and it may make certain activities more comfortable or easier, instead of getting a mouthful of hair. Bacteria and other odor-causing stuff won't get caught in the hair if you don't have any.

There are cons to take into consideration, as well. Some people find shaved pubic areas attractive, others find it a turn off. Do what *you* want and what is comfortable for *you*, but you may also want to discuss the subject with your partner. Other cons include upkeep (you'll need to shave every few days to keep it bare), itchiness (check out hints for dealing with itch) and the care needed to shave such a sensitive area.

What will your gyn/doctor think? Believe me, they've seen everything. If you're worried, you can casually say, before dropping your pants, "Oh, by the way, I shave my pubic area," so they won't be surprised. They most likely won't anyway. In some cases, it may be easier for them if you're shaved.

Do I shave all of it? Some people do, some people don't. Some men shave all of it, including hairs on the penis and scrotum, others only shave above the penis, over the pelvic bone and lower abdomen. Some women shave all of it, while others shave around the vulva and bikini line but leave a strip or triangle covering the front of their mons veneris (that's the part that shows when a woman is standing up with her legs together). Others merely trim their hair short, but don't shave, and some shave patterns or images into their pubic hair.

You may find yourself getting a bit more aquainted with your genital region. Don't be surprised about finding hair you didn't know existed, or in "weird places", like your buttocks, or in the case of women, on the outer edges of the labia. This is all normal, don't worry. :)

When using lotions and gels and other skin products in your genital area, remember they're for external use only, and be careful to use non-irritating, pure and simple ones.

is it safe to shave your bikini area while pregnant

It is safe but like the previous poster said some doctors would rather you not just because any razor bumps or tiny cuts could become infected during delivery. However being pregnant doesn't increase your risk of them getting infected, you have the same risks anytime you shave any part of your body. I am still shaving and trimming but only because I am not a big fan of hair, not because I care about what my doctor sees. It is just more comfortable for me. If you are worried about getting infected razor bumps of anything then I would just stick to trimming it really low but it's not going to harm the baby either way.

Is It Safe to Shave Pubic Hair?

Can I shave my pubic hair? Is it safe? How do most girls maintain their pubic hair?
- Amanda*
Shaving is one way to remove pubic hair — if it's done right and you're very careful. Shaving is fairly inexpensive, and you can do it yourself. Go slowly, pulling skin taut before running the razor over them. Change razors often to avoid nicks. Using shaving cream may also help protect sensitive skin, like the skin around the bikini area. If you're nervous about cutting yourself, you can try an electric razor instead.
There are some downsides to shaving. First, there are obvious risks. Using a sharp razor on such a sensitive part of the body means it's easy to slip up and hurt yourself. Then there's the regrowth stage: Shaved hair grows back after a couple of days, and when it does it can be prickly or itchy. This can leave a girl feeling uncomfortable.
There's also a chance some hairs will become ingrown, causing pimples. Sometimes people can even get skin infections as a result of shaving. For these reasons, some girls choose to wax or use depilatories on bikini hair. These methods have their downsides too, of course.
Every girl is different when it comes to maintaining pubic hair. Like clothing or hairstyle, it's a matter of individual preference. Some girls don't do anything with their pubic hair, leaving it to grow naturally. Some girls only remove hair when they'll be wearing a bathing suit. And some remove hair regularly as part of their beauty routine.
No health benefits are associated with removing pubic hair, so choose what feels right for you.

Is it dangerous to shave your vagina?

No it’s not dangerous to shave your vagina. Be careful that you don’t nick yourself and make sure you use a clean, sharp razor. Use a mirror to see what you’re doing. The skin around your genitals is very sensitive and if you hurt the hair follicles with a dull razor it can lead to an uncomfortable inflammation. If you shave your vagina, you should also think about the function of your pubic hair, which is to provide protection and ventilation. If you remove that hair, these functions disappear. Tight clothing, synthetics, string panties and panty liners can further cut down on ventilation, which can lead to itching and yeast infections. So, shave your vagina if you like, but remember to give it chance to get some fresh air!

Should you shave your vagina?

NO! You should NEVER shave your vagina. First off, there has never been a woman who has ever had hair in her vagina, so there would never be any reason to shave it. Second it is internal, so if one were stupid enough to try to shave it she would have to put the razor inside her body and would probably cut herself quite badly. Please learn the parts of your body and where hair does and does not grow so you don't continue to look so ignorant.

The vagina is an internal structure, no hair there. You are referring to the vulva. It is NOT necessary to shave this hair, you can develop infected and ingrown hairs not to mention itching when it starts to regrow which happens rather quickly. If you are sexually active this is not as advised at those tiny cuts you get from shaving can be a great way to let STD's in.

SHAVING PUBES

How to Shave Your Pubes Properly

Razor burn on your vagina is probably one of the most uncomfortable things ever. Laci Green gives you a lesson on how to properly shave your pubes so your vagina is as smooth as a baby’s bottom…weird.

How to Shave Your Vagina

Well you should either wax it or use hair removal cream , with hair removal cream you apply it, and wash it off about 5 minutes later and off goes the hair, the cream dissolves the hair, and these ways it gets rid of the roots so hair doesn't grow back as quick

Shave Your Bikini Area Completely

Shave Your Bikini Area Completely
If you'd like to try the Brazilian wax look but you're wary of waxing, a careful shave will give you the nearly same look, pain-free. Here are instructions on how to make shaving your bikini area completely a safe and easy part of your shower routine.

EditSteps

Part One: Shave Your Mons Pubis

  1. 1
Decide what you want your mons pubis (the mound of pubic hair under your belly button) to look like. Choose the option that makes you feel the most feminine and sexy. You have a few options:

    • Shave it all off. There are no health risks to shaving all of your hair off as long as you don't cut yourself.
    • Use a stencil. You will place a stencil, like a small heart, over your pubic area. Then, you'll shave around the stencil to leave a section of hair with a fun shape over your pubic area. You can find stencil kits at most adult stores or online.
    • Create a landing strip. Your landing strip, or a line extending up from your labial part toward your belly button, can be either whisper thin (good for thick, unruly hair) or slightly wider (for thin sparse hair).
  2. 2
Trim your pubic hair with scissors to about 1/4" (6 mm) in length before you get into the shower.

  3. 3
Start your shower and allow some time before you begin shaving so that your skin and hair warm up and soften. You can also soak in the tub for a little while before standing up in the shower to shave the area. If you want to wash the area, clean it before you start shaving to avoid irritating your exposed skin later.
  4. 4
Wet your mons pubis with warm shower water and smooth some shaving gel over it.

    • Definitely invest in some shaving gel for this delicate area, even if you normally use soap for your legs and armpits, on the first time that you shave it.
    • Shop for a transparent, non-foamy shower gel so that you can see what you're doing while you shave.
  5. 5
Briefly wet a previously unused razor. The razor should be a brand that you know and use often for maximum comfort.
  6. 6
Shave with long, slow, even strokes in the direction of hair growth. Put your hand onto your stomach just above the mons pubis to make sure the skin over your mons pubis is smooth and taut.

    • When shaving, let the blade do the work. Avoid pressing down into your skin.
    • If you have thick, curly hair and you're having a tough time shaving it, try using an electric razor to trim it down even more before you use the handheld razor for the finishing touches.
    • To prevent skin irritation, keep the strokes as smooth and long as possible. Use as few strokes as possible.
    • Rinse your razor between strokes if it becomes clogged with hair.
  7. 7
Remove as much hair from your mons pubis as you like. Check for missed spots and shave them. Apply more shaving gel if you need to.
    • For a closer shave, reapply shaving gel to the mons pubis and again using long, smooth strokes, shave in the direction opposite of the direction that your hair grows in instead.
    • Stop shaving against your hair growth immediately if you experience any irritation or pain.[1]

Part Two: Shave Between Your Thighs

  1. 1
Choose which side you would like to shave first. Try starting with the side opposite your dominant hand (e.g., if you're right-handed, start with your left side).
  2. 2
Bend at the waist and lift the leg that's on the same side as the part that you want to shave. Doing this will help you to see the area clearly. Prop your raised leg on the shower wall if you need to.

  3. 3
Wet the area and apply shaving gel to the area. Take care not to get any gel or other shower products in between the labia.

  4. 4
Shave with smooth, horizontal strokes from the outside in (e.g., if you're shaving your left side, shave from left to right). Use a light touch. Stop each stroke before the end of the labium in the center.

    • You may want to spread your legs further apart to keep the skin you're shaving taut, so that you won't run into any folded or wrinkled skin while you're shaving.
    • Rinse any excess shaving gel when you are done shaving the first side.
  5. 5
Shave the other side of your labia and your other inner thigh crease.

Part Three: Aftercare to Prevent Irritation

  1. 1
Pat your bikini area dry with a soft towel. Don't rub your bikini area vigorously, or you may irritate the delicate skin.

  2. 2
Pat your pubic area with some baby powder. You may also apply baby lotion to the area to reduce irritation.

  3. 3
Apply a toner containing witch hazel and rosemary. This toner will help to prevent razor burn.
  4. 4
Look out for red bumps on the days after you shave. You can apply a special ointment to eliminate red bumps in your bikini area. Look for an ointment at your drugstore or supermarket.
  5. 5
Allow at least a few days in between shaves. For a constantly hair-free look, you may have to look at other hair removal techniques, such as waxing or laser hair removal.
  6. 6
Avoid wearing skin-tight clothing. Tight clothing can cause irritation and can also cause ingrown hairs to form.[2]

EditTips

  • Don't shave dry.
  • Don't shave the same spot over and over again! You will create ingrown hairs which are a TOTAL pain to deal with and aren't very attractive!
  • Always use shaving gels, soaps, and lotions that you know your skin won't react to. Avoid using a new bath product for the first time in your bikini area.
  • Aloe Vera is a good gel to use for shaving. It also helps with preventing and treating itching and irritation afterwords.
  • Do not shave upwards towards your body or over recent razor bumps.
  • You may experience a lot of itchiness as the hair grows back. However, you'll minimize itching if you use long, slow strokes when shaving and shave with a new clean razor. Fortunately, the itchiness usually disappears after a few shaves.
  • If you're scared to shave your whole bikini area right away, start by shaving your bikini line. As you get used to working down there, you can ease into shaving the whole area.
  • You may experience red bumps, but that is normal for the first few tries but make sure to clean the bikini area before shaving, or you are more likely to cut yourself.
  • When you are done shaving, put on baby lotion or baby oil to help with the itch and irritation.

EditWarnings

  • Stop shaving immediately if you experience any irritation or cuts, and rinse your irritation or cut thoroughly with clear, running water. Never shave skin that is already irritated or is in any way unhealthy.
  • Avoid using depilatory cream if you want to go completely bare. Depilatories will work on your bikini line, but they could leave chemical burns on the sensitive skin next to your sex organs.
  • Never use an electric razor with rotating blades in your pubic area. One word--OUCH!
  • Do not apply any perfume, body spray or feminine deodorant spray to the area immediately post shave. The spray will sting, and it may irritate your skin.
  • Do not apply unknown shaving creams.

EditThings You'll Need

  • Transparent shave gel
  • New clean razor
  • Stencil
  • Electric razor
  • Soft towel
  • Baby powder or baby lotion
  • Toner containing witch hazel and rosemary
  • Ointment for red bumps
